Can't Download Backups from Cpanel

hi,
seems that I can generate backups but when I cant download them full...
i lose connection or if I can download full, I can't extract the data (getting messages such as "unexpected end of archives" "data corrupt"
I tried from several urls and I guess it's the same for all sites
Please help

Hi,

What method are you using to retrieve the backups? You should be using an FTP client so that the connection doesn't time out during an http session and corrupts the archive.
Please let us know if there is anything further we can do.

sorry, downloaded the last backup on securehotelbooking.com smoothly with cute ftp and it was also corrupt at extraction on my pc... same error message

Hi,

Are you generating a full backup through cpanel? If so, you will need to wait for the verification of completion before you start downloading it. It should send an email to you when it is finished.
Please let us know if there is anything further we can do.

Hi,
yes, i'm making that through cpanel.
unfortunately as you can si in another ticket ("cant send emails to hotmail"), i'm not receiving any email from my server to my main email (this This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) but I have to work on that issue directly with hotmail ...
so the only way I have to know that the backup is finished is when the mention "in progress" disappears from the list of available backups... I also tried backups that are several hours old...
I'll try teh procedure again today though...

hi,
so sorry, i tried the whole procedure again and dwl from ftp and tried to unzip on different machines and still get a corrupt file
could be a problem a dwl time but I have experienced no other dwl issue but this...
so I guess it's at backup creation time that there's a problem
*note: there were 3 lines of errors on previous unzip failure and only 1 at last attempt... backup file is also slightly reduced size on last backup

Hi,

do you still have some generated backups under your account that we could try to extract to see if it is already corrupt on server, this will basically tell us if it gets corrupt during backup procedure or during your download of it.

I have ran manual cPanel update, and successfully created backup for one account.
I've downloaded that backup, and archive was not corrupted.

Please, try to download this archive, and check if it is OK:

It's for account wakeupma.

If you are able to download that archive, please provide account you were having problems with, we will check.

It looks like archive gets corrupted in download process. I've checked old archives for rayonghomeandland.com that were already created on server, and files are not corrupted.
I have now manually set passive FTP ports in pure-ftp configuration. Please, try using passive FTP when downloading archives.
New backup file for account rayonghomeandland.com is:

I don't know what to say, I tried several times again adn all backups arrive corrupt.
please confirm:
have you actually downloaded a recent backup from securehotelbooking and unzipped it completely with success on your computer?
here I seem to be unable to after 24 hours I try... and my internet connection is good enough to get entire movies at once...

I have downloaded that latest backup I've provided URL for, and there were no errors with file. I was able to unpack it without errors.
Have you tried to download and unpack files on some other computer?

Something is happening with file in download procedure, as archive is created properly on server side and we were able to download and unpack it.
You can try to use WINSCP to downlaoad it, and check if it will be the same.
You can login as root via SCP.

I've rechecked this, and archive on server is in order and is not corrupted, and when downloaded it is also ok.

How exactly are you downloading this?
